Saint Mary's University
At Saint Mary's I was privileged to
enroll into the accounting faculty. The Department of Accounting, offers a program for
accounting majors which prepares students for careers in professional accounting,
industry, government and institutions. The Department also offers courses in financial and
managerial accounting and information systems for all Commerce students. This degree honed
my time management skills, researching ability and aptitude for problem solving.
Following my completion of the accounting
degree, I looked to broaden my horizons by enrolling in the Continuing Education
Information Technology Solutions course. The program allows people from almost any field
to gain the computer sofware and hardware skills they need to excel in today's job
market. The certificate in Information Technology Solutions (ITS) is a 14-week
(full-time), program offered by the division of Continuing Education.
Gaining a high level of competence in
computer technology is just one of the goals of the ITS program. The program also helps
you improve your critical thinking and decision-making skills through and approach
called "problem-based learning". In addition, you will learn and discuss some of
the ethical and legal issues relating to computer technology in each of the modules.
